Sports and biomechanics podiatrist - Core Clinic is located in Albany, Silverdale and Warkworth
Sports and injuries at some point seem to come hand and hand and Core Clinic see a lot of sport related injuries here in the clinic on a first hand basis as well as referrals from our North Shore based physios. Our approach is to work together where needed and get you back on track fast. Not many people associate podiatry and a sporting injury, but if the injury is chronic or reoccurring sometimes the best place to start is the foundation – the foot!
Our podiatrists can treat sporting injuries of the lower limb, not just the foot. This includes, foot, ankle, calf, knee and the lower back at times. In many sports, the foot absorbs tremendous shearing and loading forces, sometimes reaching over 20 times the person’s body weight! This leads to lower leg injuries both acute and chronic.
All our podiatrists are ACC registered and in New Zealand many sports injuries are covered by ACC. In New Zealand podiatrists are able to refer for X rays and ultrasounds and we do so as needed. Our plans and treatments cover the injury itself but an assessment on why the injury isn’t healing? What can we do to help it heal quicker? Book an appointment at one of our North Auckland or Hibiscus Coast locations.
Areas we can help with include:
- Gait assessment and advice
- Managing and treating chronic, acute or overuse injuries
- Strains, sprains and breaks
- Prescription of Sports orthotics
- Sport shoe advice and modifications
For quicker healing and treatment we often use all our specialists in the clinic. This could mean you start off with a podiatry consultation but you may be advised the best course of treatment is to also see the physio or acupuncturist, or both!
